Transfer from the main square of Puerto Natales to the catamaran at the Puerto Bories pier.

8:00 AM

Setting sails through the Ultima Esperanza Fjord to the Balmaceda and Serrano Glaciers. There you can see beautiful views of mountains, waterfalls, cattle ranches and Patagonian birds like the condor.

Hike to the Serrano Glacier Viewpoint in the Bernardo O’Higgins National Park. It is an easy 800m hike to enjoy the view. After aprox. 1 hour we will be back aboard to taste our well-deserved whiskey (or orange juice)

More than 5km wide and up to 70m high in his front, it is also one who is not shrinking, but the opposite. It’s a long journey from Puerto Natales but it is a worthy one.

Full Day Calafate Catwalk Sector to viewpoint of the Perito Moreno glacier 

What to bring:

Tour from Puerto Natales where you can get to know Calafate and enter the beautiful and famous “los glaciares national park” in Argentina, we will visit the sector of the catwalks to have the best views of the imposing Perito Moreno Glacier, one of the best landscapes in Argentine Patagonia 

ITINERARY:

We leave at 6.30 to look for the passengers, to arrive at the 8:00 a.m. to Cerro Castillo, where the customs office for 
 Do the immigration procedures in Chile and Argentina. 
Then we continue for 2 hours until the first stop in a service station, for 15 min. Next,  We continue for 2 more hours to El Calafate to meet our local guide and continue for 1.15 hours to the Perito Moreno glacier. 
We are on the glacier for 2 hours and there is the possibility of make a 45-minute navigation along the front of the glacier, which is not included in the value of the tour. 
Finally, we return, arriving in Puerto Natales at 22.30 approximately. 
 
Times Departure: 6.30 from the passenger’s accommodation. 
Return: 22.30.

Upon arriving at the estancia, we met with our guide and put on our gear with a short safety briefing. The guide is carrying a VHF/UHF cb radio and a first aid kit. We start first riding along a smooth climb until a steeper trail at El Mocho’s hill. The Trail rambles along waterfalls, bushes and magellanic forest. We Will have a stop at the lookout to enjoy the wild view of Laguna Sofia and surroundings. Return to the ranch.

Itinerary

Departure from your hotel in Puerto Natales

Our first stop will be at the Milodon’s cave where some ancient species remains from the last ice age where found, we will continue to the national park following narrow glacial valleys, between magellanic estancias (ranch) and some flocks of sheep. The landscape will change from the pampa steppe to the Magellanic evergreen forest as we get closer to the Patagonian Andes mountain range and the Paine massif.

We will stop at the most iconic lookouts: Laguna Sarmiento, Laguna Amarga, Cascada Paine, Río Paine, Lago Pehoé, Cuernos del Paine, Lago Nordenskjold, Lago Grey.

Highlights: 40min Hike to Salto Grande waterfall (Pudeto), and a 70 min hike to Lago Grey where it is possible to see some icebergs drifting away from the Grey glacier. 

Our selected guide and driver will be careful and attentive at any local wildlife so you will not miss some close encounter with may be guanacos, ñandus, condors, foxes, eagles, flamingoes, armadillo, caracaras, Andean deer among others.

We will return to Puerto Natales heading to Rio Serrano and skirting Lago Toro (the biggest of the region), Lago Porteño and Laguna Sofia. Drop off in your hotel.

M/V Skorpios III sails from the Skorpios Terminal in Puerto Natales, a town located 2,500 km south of Santiago, which can be reached by air from Punta Arenas or by land from Argentina. This 3-night cruise sails for the Southern Ice Fields every Tuesday and Friday (see sailing Schedule) to return every Monday and Friday between the months of October and April, covering 380 miles, which cover most of the glaciers in the area, namely Amalia, El Brujo, Bernal and Herman, and those located in the area of Fiordo Calvo. The cruise includes around 15 glaciers, some of which we will contemplate and admire directly, walking up to their front and moraines, and sailing through multi-coloured ice-floes on smaller expedition vessels like the Capitán Konstantino; from where we will have the chance to observe de varied Patagonian flora and fauna in all its natural glory

Cruise Skorpios – Kaweskar Route

CRUISE 1:
Sailing on Tuesday; arrival on Friday.

Sailing on Friday; arrival on Monday.

Optional additional night (additional cost). Monday, accomodation at the ship. Thursday, accommodation at Remota Hotel, or similar in Puerto Natales, or ship. Tuesday or Friday, full day excursion to Torres del Paine National Park and Milodon Cave (including dinner, buffet breakfast, lunch, entry fees and excursion).

Day 1: 

16.00 hrs. Passenger reception. 17.15 hrs. Safety speech about the vessel, the place will be determined that day. Departure from Puerto Natales between 17.30 hrs. and 18.00 hrs. Sailing through Angostura Kirke, Morla, Vicuña, Unión, Collingwood and Sarmiento channels.

Day 2: 

08.00 hrs. Arrival at Amalia Glacier. The vessel approaches the Glacier. Panoramic view from the ship. 09.30 hrs. Disembarkation on a nearby beach, soft hiking through the beach, flora and rocks, arriving to a viewpoint where we can appreciate this beatiful glacier. 11.30 hrs. Sailing for El Brujo Glacier. 14.00 hrs. Arrival at El Brujo Glacier. Weather and ice permitting, passengers can disembark and contemplate this glacier from a nearby rock.
15.30 hrs. Get sailing to amazing Calvo Fjord. 17.10 hrs. Arrival at Calvo Fjord and excursion on the “Capitán Constantino” icebreaker, appropriate to navigate between the ice. Visit to the Fernando, Capitán Constantino and Alipio glaciers, among others. 20.00 hrs. Sail towards Montañas Fjord.

Day 3: 

09.00 hrs. Visit to Montañas Fjord, from where you can see four glaciers, that slide down the Sarmiento Mountains to the sea, two of them are on our route. 09.30 hrs. Visit to Alsina Glacier, excursion on our boats, to explore this small bay and its glaciar, enjoying its beauty and enormous mountains surrounding. 10.30 hrs. Return to Skorpios III. Continue sailing through Montañas Fjord toward Bernal Glacier. 11.15 hrs. Disembarkation on Bernal Glacier. Iniciate a soft walking in a small native forest, and then crossing through a stream, which crosses a glacier water lagoon. Continue soft hiking over front and side moraines. Arrival at Glacier. Here, passengers can feel and touch the ice, and appreciate the iceberg melting. 12.45 hrs. Passengers return to the ship, which is in the natural water supplying phase. This water, provided from a cascade, is used on board for all ship services. 14.00 hrs. Skorpios III continues sailing through Montañas Fjord, we will be able to see Herman and Zamudio glaciers from the ship.17.45 hrs. Arrival at White angostura. Disembarkation. Then, on the excursion boats, sailing among island and rocks, enjoying the native fauna and flora. 19.30 hrs. Returning to the ship and preparating for Captain’s dinner.21.00 hrs. Farewell Party. Captain’s Dinner and dance. Navigation through Almirante Montt gulf.

Day 4: 

Arrival to Puerto Natales between 02.00 hrs. and 07.00 hrs. depending on wind conditions, to reach Skorpios Terminal. 08.00 hrs. and 09.30 hrs. Passengers leave the ship, those who have hired the service, transfer to the Punta Arenas airport by coach (consult fees).
